Recently a lovely lady rang to say that some of the macarons had been sent as a gift had arrived broken. She did not seem to mind as she said it did not affect the taste! However, Sarah and I decided it was time to limit the breaks! And, tada, look at the result. We are so pleased. Now they are still pretty and safe!
This sauce or compote goes with any Christmas meat. From turkey or goose to beef and duck or pheasant. I make it every single year. It takes me 10 minutes and I pop it straight into the freezer or if within 2 weeks of Christmas a glass jar with a tight fitting lid.
– packet of fresh cranberries thoroughly washed
– demerara sugar to taste (I use approx. 4 tablespoons full)
– zest of a large orange
– juice of that large orange
1. All in a saucepan together and moderate heat until consistency is like in the picture above.
